It was a glorious, multi-million-dollar middle finger to the supercar elite, designed strictly to prove that the makers of the humble Golf could build an absolute hypercar-slaying monster. Sadly, it never reached production, but it remains the ultimate proof that when Volkswagen decides to take off its sensible cardigan, the results are absolutely magnificent.
